Our story begins in the early 1960s by producing packaging. We were using wood at the time, but in the middle of that decade, something changed. Synthesised expanded polystyrene (EPS), commonly referred to as polystyrene, is entering the market in a big way. Guido Gasperini, then owner of the company, understood its potential from the first moment. With great foresight he started the first trials for the use of EPS in packaging, in combination with cardboard.
Polystyrene is still an unknown material. We operate in this sector by designing and building the machinery ourselves. Let us try to imagine its possible applications. These are the years of the economic boom. Among the first to realise the strength of this new product are appliance manufacturers. In those years we forged the first economic relations with the IGNIS brand, today, Whirlpool, which has been a customer of ours ever since. We also work with Radi, with whom the relationship continues today under the Ariston brand. Within a few years, we completely replaced wood with EPS, radically transforming the entire business.
